With Memorial Day right around the corner and the 4th of July just a few months away, we thought it’d be the perfect time to talk about the American aspect of skydiving. Not only was this sport pioneered in this country, but it is also a popular activity among Americans today. In fact, the Parachute Association in the U.S. has more than 35,000 members, and more people in this country skydive than anywhere else in the world. But just why is that the case? We believe part of it may be that skydiving really represents what being American is all about.
If you’re not sure what we mean by that, allow us to explain. Think about some of the greatest ideals and values that this nation was founded on and still remain incredibly important today. These are things like exploration, independence, and of course, freedom. The act of skydiving represents all of these values and others.
Today, there aren’t many ways to explore new territory or exemplify your freedom that are better than skydiving. Flying through the air is an experience like no other, and certainly something the founding fathers would have viewed as an American activity, after getting over the fact that today’s technology allows us to get in the air, fall from the sky, and land safely on the ground.
So, if you’re looking for a way to celebrate your American independence this summer, why not do it in a unique way by going skydiving? For more information, contact the team at the Virginia Skydiving Center today!
